ABOUT

I am Ruan Martins, a Brazilian director, filmmaker, and choreographer based in Augsburg, Germany.

My artistic practice moves between film, photography, dance, and performance, exploring human experiences, emotional expression, and the relationship between movement and the moving image.

Before transitioning into filmmaking, I worked for over a decade as a professional dancer. This experience continues to shape my creative approach, influencing how I understand rhythm, physicality, space, and visual composition. Movement remains a central element of my work, both in front of and behind the camera.

My practice encompasses documentary filmmaking, dance films, music videos, live performance, and interdisciplinary audiovisual projects. I work across the creative process, from conceptual development and artistic direction to production and post-production, often collaborating with artists from different disciplines and cultural backgrounds.

Through my work, I seek to create meaningful connections between artistic forms, bringing together storytelling, movement, and visual expression.
